The character must be of a realistic height. No giants please. 6'6" is the maximum allowed for both males and female characters.
Darklings ALWAYS have pale skin. Hair color can be somewhat odd but eye color must be realistic within the limits set by the rules for darklings unless you receive permission from a staff member.
Darklings can not be day walkers. Half-bloods may but only for limited amounts of time or they will suffer side effects.
Darklings come in 3 basic social ranks. Nobles/pure bloods are of highest rank. Following nobles are ordinary darklings, then half-bloods. Nobles have NO half-blood ancestry and are members of one of the Noble Houses. Ordinary darklings are either of pure blood but lower social status or have half-blood ancestry. Half-bloods are the offspring of a noble and a human, an ordinary darkling and a human, a half-blood and a human, or of 2 half-bloods.
Half-bloods never produce human offspring. The offspring of a half-blood and a darkling depends on the ancestry of the darkling. Noble darkling and half-blood parentage will almost always produce an ordinary darkling. Ordinary but pure blood darkling and half-blood parentage will often result in ordinary darkling but can result in a half-blood from time to time. Ordinary but not pure blood darkling and half-blood parentage will ALWAYS result in a half-blood. Half-blood and human parentage will ALWAYS result in a half-blood.
The eyes of darklings and half-bloods may be any shade of yellow (including pure yellow, gold, and amber) or any shade of purple. Red and light blue are allowed only in albino characters. Please make sure that your darkling has vertically split pupils, like those of a reptile.
Albino darkling characters may be created only with the permission of a staff member.
Hair may be any realistic shade and a few off shades. White is allowed in nobles, in some half-bloods of noble ancestry, and in albinos. There is no dying of hair as hair dye does not exist.
Darklings are basically vampires. However, they must be born that way. There is no 'turning' into a darkling. Darklings are NOT undead. They do have some abilities of traditional vampires. If you are unsure whether or not a 'traditional' ability is allowed, please ask a staff member.
Infants may be born in the course of the role play. Albino infants may be born only occasionally. A staff member will determine the stats/coloring of any infants born during role play. This includes any abnormalities or disabilities.
Too much time in the sun leads to 2nd or 3rd degree burns to all exposed skin and at least 1st degree burns to covered skin for pure bloods. For half bloods, it leads to 1st or 2nd degree burns for exposed skin with no visible effect on covered skin EXCEPT when the amount of time is excessive. Then it is the same as for a pure blood.
Fatal effects are the same for both, though it takes longer for a half blood to reach this point. Death of the character is the result of the internal organs shutting down due to prolonged exposure to sunlight. Once a character reaches that point, they will die. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
The older a half blood is, the longer they can be in the sun without being harmed. This does have a limit. No half blood, no matter how old he or she may be, can be out for the entire day during the summer. Even in winter, the oldest ones can't be out from dawn to dusk without getting sick or passing out. So don't try it, cause it ain't gonna happen.
